The BeautifulCity.ca Alliance (BCBF Proposal) aims to democratize and diversify access to public space, and in turn — hold companies investing in billboard advertising accountable for their impact on shared spaces.
The BCBF would see 18 Million gathered through an annual license fee (or dedicated tax) that would be paid by billboard companies.
Proceeds will be used for enforcement of the new billboard bylaw and further distributed by City Agencies to fund art in the public sphere including festivals, murals, sculptures, outdoor performances and more.
