On Friday July 13th, the Masonic Temple housed FLOW 93.5′s annual tradition of bringing together some of the city’s top talent to preform live for hundreds of fans at the Toronto Summer Jam. Kardinal Offishall hosted the celebration, which featured music from The Airplane Boys, DRU, Shawn Desman and Melanie Fiona. DJ Starting From Scratch, Peter Kash and JJ were all on hand to keep the energy high as people filed in from the sweltering heat to hear some of their favorite songs; past and present.

The Airplane Boys started the show off strong, running around on stage and into the crowd to the frenzied screams of their dedicated fans as they worked through hits off their Where Have You Been and Alignment mixtapes. DRU followed The Airplane Boys with a back-up dancer assisted set that saw DRU showcase both his lyrical and vocal talents. One of the most impressive performances of the night belonged to Shawn Desman, who danced and sang his way through his expansive catalog as the audience sang along to his classic hits.

Kardinal Offishall took some time off from his hosting duties to bless the crowd with a handful of hits, including the song that most consider the anthem of Toronto, Bacardi Slang. Kardinal also brought out rising star, Shi Wisdom to provide her vocal talents as ‘The Ambassador’ closed out his set. But, as she is wont to do, Melanie Fiona stole the show with her beautiful voice and professional ability to work a crowd. Ms. Melanie, along with all the other acts, reminded the city that our talent pool runs deep.

Special thanks to all the artists, FLOW 93.5 and Bell Media.
