Summer’s here and Agile debuts a groovy Nu Disco release, his first of the season. With the help of Maya Killton who sings Faith Evan‘s Love Like This, Agile creates a jumpy and distilled take on electronic disco. I couldn’t help but to fetch the root of it so I reached out to him to see what inspired him to remake a Faith Evans classic.
While he was driving home one night on a Friday, the Toronto native heard Fatman Scoop’s version of Love Like on a radio mix show. “How come nobody has made a Nu Disco/Boogie version of this song?” he asked himself, the rest was history. 3 days of endless work in the studio and team work is what it took to complete this remake. “Most of the music was done in a day. Jessy Aarons emailed me the guitar parts and I had Eon Sinclair from Bedouin Soundclash come by the spot and lay down the bass on another day. My homie Mista Jiggz recommend Maya Killtron for the vocals, and we had a session and she killed it.”
Coming from the 90s, Agile wanted to highlight the golden era of r&b with a twist of Nu Disco. “I’m loving this adventure, and I’m in a great space creatively.” Up next, we can expect an original song from him in the weeks to come but until then, enjoy love like…this.
